Wood Anemone (Anemone nemorosa)

After a very busy day at work, I made another visit to Itchingfield. In the wood below the church there were plenty of Wood Anemones in flower. An upright creeping perennial, Wood Anemone flowers stay closed up and drooped when it is dull and overcast. As soon as the sun comes out, they open right up. These were still well open but it was beginning to cloud over in advance of a slow moving frontal system.
