@BAFTAScotland Through a Dark Glass

Not quite the Oscars, but who knows... ? There may very well have been a few future Oscar winners in the audience at BAFTA Scotland New Talent Awards 2014.

I was at this glittering event in The Arches in Glasgow with my goNORTH/ScreenHI colleague, Olivia... seen in the right here in this gratuitous selfie-with-BAFTA-mask.

I'm the woman in the middle cleft in two by a wine glass (!)

On the left hand side we have Willie, partner of goNORTH/ScreenHI director, Amanda.

Muriel Gray was hosting the event and before all the winners were announced, took a mega-selfie of herself and BAFTA Scotland Chair, Claire Mundell, on stage with the audience in The Arches behind them.

"We're behind you!"

Olivia and I were both first time jurors helping to decide who wins what at this celebration of up-and-coming talent. Olivia in the Fiction category and me in the Writer category.

The judging took place a few weeks ago and was a really interesting experience all-round.

Writer, Michael Crumley, won in the Writer category, for Hannah (produced by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). It was an unsettling well-rounded piece of storytelling (superbly acted too) and Michael was a worthy winner.

A name to look out for...
