Another Lent Cheat Day!
As this is my first day off in 9 days, today was a day to relax and kick back.
Unfortunately a lie-in wasn't an option as we had a man come to do an energy survey on the house(!?) now that it is no longer for sale the estate agents will continue to let it and I guess they needed some information to put on file.
We also had a guy out to replace a part on our dishwasher because it was discovered the old ones were faulty and a fire hazard so all the parts were being replaced for free; nice of them to do so, but not when they changed the time from evening to early morning.
Once they were both out of the way Luke and I made some lunch, crab and coleslaw sandwiches with silver skin pickled onions for a balancing tang. Pickles or gherkins would have been better, but the vinegary sharpness of the onions at least complimented the sweet richness of the crab and mayo.
We watched the movie 9 as we ate and decided that it was an interesting story and the animation was good, but the ending left you wondering and unsatisfied. I guess that's what they were going for, nothing in an apocalypse is certain.
In the afternoon I wrote a letter to our dear friends Helen and Jeff in response to the latest post card and email we received last week. Included is a very belated birthday card for Jeff and we need to think of a gift to send him but currently neither of us have any real ideas. Need to come up with something soon so I can post everything off before they think we have forgotten them. Very sad to confess in the letter that we won't be going back to Cali this year, cannot fathom two years not seeing them until we hopefully go over for our honeymoon in 2015...hopefully they will still be coming to the UK for their canal boat trip so we can meet up with them then.
For my letter writing Luke made me a hot chocolate with marshmallows on top, another Lent day officially broken! Not very good at it this year! It was certainly delicious and the marshmallows were so gooey and sticky sweet on top - it was a real treat.
I also noticed for the first time that on Blip you can buy a photo book of all the entries in a 365 Book, very pleased by this idea and I am excited to complete a full year on Blip to create into a lovely table book to keep.
Today I am grateful for the warmth of Ted in my lap wrapped up in my dressing gown and the warmth of a delicious cheeky hot chocolate in my hands.
