Alternative crossing!
These two brave ladies made it across the river on the stepping stones.
We preferred the bridge!
At one point in the middle, where one of the stones was under water, we thought we would be throwing in the life belt, which was positioned near by.
However they made it to the other side, with clapping and cheering from us.
I'm sure the Yorkshire Blippers will recognise this as the River Wharfe at Bolton Abbey.
We met our walking group at Barden Bridge, and followed the river to Bolton Priory, where we stopped for a picnic lunch.
Sat among the ruins, ( see them in the photo) with a nice view of the river.
(Frederick Sewards Trueman OBE Cricketer . Played for Yorkshire and England. Is buried in the graveyard.)
We then walked back along the other side of the river. Through the woods, with lots of bird song, past the Strid, and back to the car.
A lovely walk, through beautiful scenery.
Managed to miss the rain showers, and finished off at the Strid tea rooms, for tea and cake.
A perfect day out!
