The Carriage Horse Courtyard
Today's the day ....................... to step back in time
We paid a visittoday to the National Trust's Llanerchaeron - a traditional rural country house and estate that has been in the same family for ten generations.
It was originally designed by the great Regency architect John Nash (also responsible for Brighton Pavilion and Buckingham Palace) - and completed in 1795. Although it has had minor alterations over the centuries, it has remained remarkable unaltered and it's very easy to imagine how things might have been back then.
This is the Courtyard where the carriage and riding horses were stabled. In the mid-19th century, underfloor heating was added to keep the family's two carriages - a Brougham and a Victoria - free of damp. The practical herringbone-patterned surface in the centre of the yard was made using pebbles gathered from the nearby beach ........................
