My 40th year

Uh oh!

So today started out terribly but finished superbly. I had forgotten to take my camera out of the car when I went to walk but spotted this jar on next doors step and as I had just done exactly the sentiment on the jar it seemed fitting for today.

I got up far too early on a Saturday morning to take India to swimming club but thought I could then go on to the gym, fight the flab, shower and change and on to work. I checked with Mark that his car (100% electric) had enough charge to do all those little journeys and he sleepily assured me that it had. As the car park barrier rose up to admit me to the gym I noticed the charge only read 4 miles which was cutting it fine. The gym was closed, another 20 minutes before it opened and also another 20 minutes before the electric barrier to go out opened as well. I watched the car charge go to zero as I fumed by the unwielding barrier having decided on going home to change cars instead of sitting calmly and waiting for the gym to open. What a waste of time and now I was going to break down as well. I drove at 20mph all the way home to conserve energy, reached home and duly shouted at Mark, switched cars and flounced back to the gym. It was obviously all Marks fault as he hadn't bothered to charge his car last night ( he didn't see it quite the same way). After work I came home and every conversation ended up with shouting, I was so cross my blood was boiling! India went dancing, Mark took Heidi to his mums and I texted some friends to commiserate with me on the general uselessness of husbands. Carole and Helen both offered to come and walk the dogs with me, it all looked much cheerier from then on!

We had a great walk and agreed that Carole's husband just pipped Mark to the post for the title of most exasperating. I was in such a good mood, lovely sunshine, good walk and great great friends who had come out to cheer me up. I got home to lovely flowers fromMark and Heidi. Mark collected India from dancing and her tap exam results were in, SHE ACHIEVED DISTINCTION!!!!! I am so proud of all her hard work! We zoomed off in the now fully charged electric car to have early dinner with Lottie, Jane, Jon and Jessie to celebrate Lotties birthday. The wine was flowing in the mums section of the table! I have ended the day feeling blessed with great friends and really proud of India.
