Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Date Night -- No! Quake Night

We wanted to go on a date, but we really wanted to stay home together alone. Does that make sense? Mr. Fun said, "Well, it's too bad we don't have a pizza in the freezer."

I answered, "We do. I just bought it last time I did the grocery shopping."

So we had a date right here at home alone. It was such a great event that at 9:09 p.m. the earth shook -- and it really shook -- a 5.1 magnitude earthquake. It was pretty creepy. We have experienced many earthquakes in our lives. We've always lived in southern California, which is earthquake country. But this quake shook for a LONG time. It really felt weird. The whole house just kept swaying and moving. We were sitting in the family room which is on the first floor just beneath the master bedroom.

The quake was centered in the city of La Habra, which is in Orange County, west of us by probably 20 or so miles. Immediately the TV newscasters were reporting the event, and almost as quickly Facebook filled with reportings and with photos where friends had been inside of stores and jars, cans, and bottles were strewn about the floors with broken glass and liquid everywhere.

For the next hour or so we felt numerous after shocks. So we gave the evening a new title. It wasn't "Date Night" but it was "Quake Night." We would vote to not have more of these.

Good night from Southern California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol

P.S. The Pizza was delicious! and being home out of rush and commotion of a public place was immensely relaxing (well, until the earthquake).
