Best Cheese Cake - This is no April Fool!
Another early start today and in at 7am with freshly ironed trousers from Luke the night before. No delivery but re-merching to do instead.
Ali came in on her day off for a half day to help and we moved half of Souvies to one side of the Dublin pillar, expanded Kids Home to the back of the Souvies fixture with a picnic theme and re-worked the Home wall to get more lines out. Doesn't sound like much but there are so many little bits for both those sections that it took it's time.
Just after we had a sweat attack to get ready to open on time Ciara called and asked if we wanted any drinks bringing in, music to our ears! She brought us chai lattes which went down very well, especially after trying some of Ali's lime and 7up jelly! It was delicious and so light it dissolved in my mouth. Definitely need to try that at home.
The day went by pretty quickly considering I had a 5 hour stretch of SM ahead of me after lunch.
There was a funny moment when Eneida came back from lunch, she produced a Butler's chocolate bunny to apologise for opening a drawer on my head yesterday. Whilst I said at the time that, honestly, it didn't hurt and that I was completely fine, she felt so bad she had bought me chocolate. Normally I would have devoured it in no time after work, but I have to restrain myself seeing as I already broke Lent once, I put it in my locker along with the easter egg Paul bought for us after the visit, which I am also saving. Easter Sunday doing figures is going to be amazing with all that chocolate to keep us going!
Once I finished I went to the office to find Ali back in store and we planned the jobs for tomorrow - another delivery of essential stock and new lines to process and re-merch and get out before we open.
We also tried to plan our day off on Thursday and Ali discovered a cheesecake shop just round the corner from work. We thought about going on our day off, but as we read a blog about it we were both practically drooling over the key board so we decided to go have a slice before heading home! When we got to Cheese Cake there was hardly any choice left, most were chocolate oriented so I was very limited being off chocolate. In the end Ali chose Millionaire's Shortbread and I had Raspberry Ripple.
It.Was.Amazing!
The shop owner told us about the delivery due tomorrow (peanut butter, alas with chocolate, maple pecan, chocolate free - hurrah, and new flavour Ferrero Rocher to look forward to!). They open at 12pm, sounds like a lunch break to me!
After cheesecake I walked home and Luke had a cup of tea on the go for me when I came in and sausages and chips ready to go in the oven.
He stroked my hair and rubbed my back for a bit to 'stop me catching Eric's lurgie' as I said I was feeling like I was catching Eric's cold. Fingers crossed it is not meningitis going around after Paul got infected.
Today I am grateful for chocolate-free indulgences; Ciara brought us chai, Ali brought us jelly and I bought us cheesecake!
