Playmobil

Hosting Thanksgiving, A's lingering illness, and last weekend's trip have conspired to leave me feeling behind in terms of Christmas preparations. Ben strung the exterior lights awhile ago, but until today that has been the extent of our decorating. This afternoon I managed to drag all of the bins out of the attic, lit a cozy fire, and then the kids and I spent a pleasant hour making the house festive. We hung our stockings with care and all that!

The biggest hit with E was this Playmobil Christmas scene, which we bought the winter we lived in Germany, when he was just a baby. It's an advent calendar, and in past years we've used it as one - opening a tiny box containing one piece of the scene each December evening. This year, since we're getting a late start and since E was so excited to play with it, we skipped the advent idea and just enjoyed setting up a holiday scene on the living room end table.
