Cutthroat Island

London has broken Audrey. She woke up in a brilliant mood but from the train journey on she has steadily unravelled, culminating in an all mighty breakdown this afternoon.

Our journey had been pretty smooth but then at Milton Keynes, the train became so packed and I could see her starting to get really hot and overwhelmed. Ended up stripping her down and hiding out with her in the wobbly bit between two carriages! It was the only quiet spot on the train.

We had lunch at an amazing place called The Riding House near Langham Place but by this point the damage was already done and we must have been in and out in half an hour tops. Audrey's meltdown had begun.

The day's curse continued as we fought our way down a packed Oxford Street with a pram to Bond Street tube. No-one is your friend in this part of London and as we had a pram, we were definitely viewed as the enemy. The looks we got as we tried to jostle our way through the throngs of shoppers (I named the Oxford Street pavement, Cutthroat Island!)

Then as we approached the platform, we discovered that our tube route to the hotel had engineering work so we had to divert via lots of staircases - with lots of heavy pram and suitcase lifting and co-ordination!

We finally got to the hotel and chilled out on Audrey's nap. Waking up in time to hear all five of my horses crash out of the Grand National along with my stake. My last horse (Across the Bay) was in the lead but got taken down by a stray horse with no jockey that was loose on the course. Summed up my day really!

Dinner at trendy Pizza East in Shoreditch (see picture of Audrey playing in the window). But even that went wrong! They brought her pizza to the table piping hot which sent her in into a tailspin as we couldn't let her eat it until it cooled. I hid it under the table and it dropped all over my jeans. You couldn't make it up!

Then on the way home the pram got a flat tyre!!!

So all in all a bit of a disaster! Heavy rain forecast for tomorrow, a pram with a flat tyre and another long train journey.....but it has to be better right?

We're eating chocolate and watching the movie Captain Phillips in an attempt to turn today round!
