Today's the day ......................... for a duck out of water

It was easy to tell that we've had a fair bit of rain these last few days - the River Kent was as high as I've seen it in a while.

The water was rushing along in a torrent and all the usual rocks and little islands that stick out of the river were several feet beneath the surface. All the wildfowl that you usually see swimming about had taken refuge on the banks.

This lovely female goosander had found sanctuary at the base of one of the arches of Stramongate bridge ...........................
