The lovelies
Rylee's birthday was yesterday, and we had a girls day/night planned since before Christmas. The original plans included a spa day and swimming... those fell through as the girls would not be able to enjoy pedicures together - and lets face it, everything is more fun with friends by your side!
So, Charlee and I took the girls out for a more sophisticated evening of fun. A delicious dinner at Amici's Cucina in Waterville, which turned into an evening of jokes about "cucina's".... our table was against a wall where an Italian painting hung featuring two (fully dressed males playing mandolins) and two very voluptuous women wearing only their birthday suits. Rylee's view was of one of the ladies mid-section - her cucina if you will. Our meals were delicious, and well priced for a high-end restaurant. After dinner, we walked to the Opera House and waited for the "house" to open. While waiting, a slideshow played in the lobby of upcoming performances, didn't the girls laugh when the slide displayed large letters spelling out "The Vagina Monologues". Charlee and I caught the giggles from the girls, and I'm sure we looked pretty ridiculous for a minute there. On the way to our seats, while climbing the staircase to the balcony, I looked up to see a reprint of a michaelangelo painting, little angels wearing nothing but their wings and harps/horns. Indeed their "cucina's" showing for all to see. So far, that sounds like a sophisticated evening right?
The performance of Shrek the Musical was amazing... lots of great actors and actresses, amazing voices, and comical antics. After the show, the girls (o.k. - all of us), were hungry. We decided to stop for ice cream, problem was - where? DQ had long since closed, Friendly's was closing in an hour - but had a wait already... a drive toward home reminded me that Cold Stone Creamery (inside Tim Hortons) is a 24/7 restaurant. We enjoyed our desert and casual conversation until 11:30, and didn't arrive home until nearly midnight.
A late night indeed, but one that we won't soon forget. Both Kaylee and I had a great time, we laughed often, we enjoyed each others company and we made memories with some dear friends. I hope we can do it again soon!
