Chariots of Fire

Tomorrow I was supposed to be running in the St Andrews Half Marathon. It starts and ends on the beach at West Sands where the Chariots of Fire movie was filmed. The film tells the story of two athletes in the 1924 Olympics: Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams.

After my ankle injuries, I’m nowhere near able to run, so I pulled out of the race. I had booked non-refundable accommodation close by though for my parents and I. So we’re over in the Kingdom of Fife for the weekend!

I’m not saddened that I’m not running tomorrow – although it would have been an iconic race to do. I've come to the conclusion anyway that I don't actually like races, I much prefer running on my own, for the fun of it.

For today though, We've had a brilliant day. We walked the beach at St Andrews then headed over to Tentsmuir Forest where we climbed trees, saw a seal colony and mum rode a cow. A great start to the mini holiday! Right you'll have to excuse me now, I'm off to find an ice cream. I will leave you with a picture of me on the Chariots of Fire beach!
