Ups and downs
Late afternoon walk, quick pootle around the village shop (thankfully very nice owners who don't mind a 2 year old turning off their fridge and looking inside the wine cooler!). Then up the road to a footpath, over this stile and across the fields.
We'd been before to see the horses, we walk through an equestrian centre. After saying hello to horse number one we had trouble going any further... so we left balling tantrum child on the grass whilst we attempted to coax him over to the next field, with the sunny fields of rapeseed to look forward to.
Cue 2 yelping deaf and blind dogs... rushing up to child on floor as if they were going to tear him to shreds (except they stop 1 metre away not quite knowing what to do next). Child now experiencing absolute terror and crawling/screaming as fast as he could towards us. All-in-all a good recipe for a lifetime's phobia. Managed to pick him up and he was in shock... but quiet and happy to be cuddled.
Happy to say we have met a few dogs since - all fine.
