Good Friday
Up and out early for a walk in the sunshine. The Pavlovian response in the sheep when they see the farmer approaching is amazing.
We packed things in today. First stop Aydon Castle, second stop Prudhoe Castle. We had tried to visit Prudhoe last year – but it was closed. I found it an odd place, the ancient castle walls house a Georgian mansion. We headed to Corbridge for lunch, but couldn’t find anywhere to park so kept going to Hexham. Then it was on to Chester’s Fort for some Roman ruins. They are in a lovely setting on the banks of the North Tyne. The sun was shining and it was just lovely. Being a roman soldier on Hadrian’s Wall was probably not so bad on a sunny day. The only downside was when BB decided he was too hot, so decided to lie down on the grass and roll around. He got badly stung by nettles on both hands and legs.
Home to enjoy the Craster kippers for tea.
Here’s a blip of Rothbury from my morning walk.
