Not for the squeamish!

Poor Monty has been in the wars. This morning I noticed what I thought was a discharge coming from his ear, so promptly wheeched him over to the vet's, where it was affirmed that he had an abscess caused by a scratch that had become infected. It looked terribly painful! There were a few other minor scabs that made the vet think that he'd been in a fight.

The vet cleaned out the wound, gave Monty a penicillin injection - phew, no pills! - and also cut and shaved off the worst of the matted clumps on his tummy. I've to take him back on Friday for a check-up.

Who is the culprit? Possibly the 'new' cat that's moved in across the lane, but there's no way of knowing and there's no way of stopping Monty going out. It's all rather upsetting...
