Ciocari musicians.
Not only pituresque, these men played some very jolly traditional music.
I gave them a few coins as is normal, but then I noticed that nobody else did.
Perhaps I dropped another big clanger and they were doing it for fun or paid by the fair organisers and not busking. They were very polite anyway and didn't mind me taking a photo of them.
It is said that the area, Ciociaria, south of Rome and the people, get their name from their sandals, Cioce, which since ancient times have been used by these folks.
They are hand made from any animal skin and studs and were used even in rough terrain.
Following the second world war they were made of car tyres.
