Boxing day - 'Snoaniceday

Say the title quickly and this was the mantra his Lordship and I were repeating as we slithered from the castle towards the salted and clear pavements of town.
It wasn't a nice day at that point, damp and dismal with melting snow and ice on the side roads.
Our part of town was unusually quiet and we found out why when we hit Princes Street. The pavements were thronged with families out trying to spend their Christmas money and bag a bargain at the same time in the shops that were open.

We were only out to have a constitutional walk and maybe try and find an original blip of the festive scene. This is hard since everything that is blippable in central Edinburgh has been blipped very successfully by other people over the last few weeks.
It struck me that I spend so much time walking around trying to get photos, I am saving a lot of money by not indulging in retail therapy for myself. I wonder how much of that saved money adds up to a nice shiny DSLR?

I thought that this blip of a bench in the Meadows looking out over an expanse of trodden snow says a lot........ the party's over and people have deserted the snow for the shops, leaving only their footprints behind.
