Sloth Day

Today was the day Yong-Ju has been waiting for the entire trip. She woke up early to do some bird-watching. I woke up around 6 and crossed paths with her as she was heading back to our cabin. I found Evan, Adam and Professor Shepherd looking at some caputchan monkeys in the trees. Professor Shepherd declared that he was going to go locate a sloth and two minutes later he came back with the proclamation that he did indeed find a sloth. I ran back to get Yong-Ju. Nothing made her happier than this sloth. Along with the sloth we also saw a fried dead monkey on an electrical wire.

After breakfast we headed out to the Mangroves. The mangroves were pretty cool to walk around. Our feet sunk in the mud. It’s incredible that trees can grow in such loose soil and high salt content. Here's a picture of Eric on our adventure to the mangroves.

We headed to a local beach afterwards. There were really cool caves that you could enter and swim out into the ocean from. The Pacific Ocean is so lovely and warm. The beach was packed with Ticos enjoying their holiday weekend. Ticos is what they call Costa Rican people.

Took advantage of the lovely pool after the beach. I think we took a night hike down to the beach and got drunk this night but now I can’t remember if it was this night or the one before.
