Bauman Farms Garden Center
Hi! Auntie, Bill and I did our drive south of Portland and went to French Prairie Gardens. It isn't that big of a place, but the drive there was so pretty. It's not off of the freeway very far, but we've never been there before, so it was fun to see the countryside. Deep in the Willamette Valley there is serious agriculture going on and we saw a lot of nursery stock being grown and filbert orchards and hop fields that will yield wonderful hops for all that beer. Around Eugene, Oregon, where my dad lived, there used to be a lot of hop fields and my dad used to pick hops, as did all the kids who worked in the fields then. You can see some photos here.
We decided to head to Bauman Farms and this image is from there, our favorite place which is fun as they have a nice bakery and a place to get coffee or other drinks. We all had a lovely, fresh blueberry/lemon scone and I had an Italian soda and they had coffee. It was a nice treat. Then we got Joan her Mother's Day flowers and we had fun picking them all out.
After that we stopped at Al's Greenhouse, a really big garden center in Woodburn, a few miles from Bauman Farms and finished up our spring shopping trip. We drove back to Portland and had a little dinner with Joan, dropped her off, unloaded flowers and then came home. The Portland Trailblazers did a wonderful job of winning their first round of playoff games in a thrilling finish a few nights ago, and now it's on to round two. We are playing the team with the best record in the West, but we have won 2 of our games with them, and they have won 2, so hopefully....cross our fingers.....we can do okay and at least not embarrass ourselves on national TV. I have great expectations but in the end, I never have that much faith in our team. It's been so long since we've been this far in the playoffs, I guess I'm not used to success for them. Hope they prove me wrong.
Go Blazers!
