A Good Year For The Roses

I don't think it will be, judging by the number of slugs which have emerged in our garden following this morning's rain. I caught this little chap (or chapess - I'm not sure how you tell without getting very up close and personal) munching away on this flower.
We decided to take up vegetable growing a couple of years ago. It must have been the worst year ever for slugs. They certainly ate more than we did.
We used to have hens which ate the slugs but also ate the plants, and attracted rats! Eurrrggh. I'd rather have slugs .
