Friday night coffee
We've got into a habit over the last few months of going out for a coffee after work on a Friday - a chance to unwind, catch up on stuff and an excuse to eat cake. And even tho I've finished work we've decided to keep it up - ideally we'll manage to continue when the baby arrives but let's see. New venue tonight as Carluccios opened today so we had to try it out. And it would have been rude not to try their cake - a huge portion of chocolate fudge - especially as was feeling good about a long awaited for letter (or at least the first part) arriving today. Was lovely but not one for every week if I want to get the weight off.
Other than that a fairly chilled day as was tired after a late night last night - the fella was so excited about his record collection he was googling them until 1.30am! So stayed in my pjs until midday before a quick pop to the shops then a local antenatal class. Last week's was great but this one not so much - it was about looking after the baby when they get home and just made me more worried about how much I don't know. It all still seems very surreal but know it will become real very soon - I just hope that we support each other, ask for help and get through those first weeks.
O and forgot to mention yesterday I had a lovely Facebook message from a work friend who had her baby on Wednesday. We've both run a couple of marathons each and had a theory that childbirth is a bit like a marathon - knowing it's gonna hurt but that your body can do it and isn't going to permanently break and how great it feels at the end. She promised to tell me the truth if our theory was right or wrong and got the loveliest message saying it is: 'elements of pacing yourself, holding your nerve, gritting your teeth and cracking on (mile 21?) - there is one key difference though - the medal you get is the most amazing one possible!' Made me cry then and just made me emotional writing it out. So thanks Sam - means a lot you took the time to message and will keep it in mind when it all kicks off
And you guessed it bag still not packed. Tomorrow I promise.
