Flying the flag

Saw this blowing on the parish church - the C of E flying the flag of St George. According to what I've read from the Diocese of Gloucester, there aren't particular legal regulations about what you can fly from a church.

There advice about this flag is:

St George's Cross
This is probably the best and most popular flag to fly, and is suitable on any church, on any day. Visually, a good-sized unadorned St George's Cross can hardly be bettered.

2010 is going to be a big year for the C of E as it continues to consider whether to put legislation in place to enable women to become bishops, and if so, should further legislation be enacted for people who don't believe a woman can be a bishop.

Will there be priests and bishops who take up Rome's 'sort of Roman Catholic, but hold on to bits of Anglicanism' offer? What will this do to the parochial system which to my mind is the strength of the C of E - the local church for the local community?

And what of the Anglican Communion torn by the tension of disparate views about same sex relationships?

One thing is certain (in my mind that is): God is God and always will be whatever idiotic things God's beloved children get up to.

So, Peace and Joy for the New Year everyone!
