North county's burning
Another scorcher. 97 at the coast and single digit humidity. It was already hot walking the dog at 7:30 am. The fire from yesterday had been brought under control overnight.
A full ride day at my rough site today. But a good vendor and plenty of people to talk to made it an enjoyable one. Some good leads and feedback too. People had actually tried the samples!
As I was walking round the labs this afternoon pretty much everyone had the live newsfeeds on their computer. 6 or more pretty serious fires had sprung up to the north and west. Some threatening 100's of homes in San Marcos and surrounding areas which had mandatory evacuations.
The fires were bad and fanned by the Santa Ana's. So bad that tonight they called in the dc-10 aerial tanker that has been exclusively rented by the state to fight fires every year.
There was some speculation about the number and widespread nature of fires that done may have been started deliberately. Thankfully no loss of life and few properties caught up in them yet.
Took this blip at 8pm tonight. The smoke from the fires to the north can be seen on the horizon. It's still very warm even now. Another repeat of the weather for the last 2 days forecast tomorrow
