May Daily Challenge - Midpoint

Day 19 of AnnieMay and MollyMay's May challenge - Midpoint

The first full day of the nature workshop at LPH, before breakfast I had a trip up Latrigg, which gives views over Keswick, Derwent Water and over towards Bassenthwaite.

The weather was good, and the forecast was pretty accurate. The main part of the day was spent at Rannerdale, so there were a few bluebells in evidence. Rannerdale is one of the few places where bluebells grow out in the open, rather than in the shade of woodland. Just beginning to poke through were the ferns and bracken that will provide the bluebells with the shade that they need. Ice creams in Buttermere to follow before heading back to base.

As to a midpoint, if you follow the shadow of the tripod you will see that it points to (very roughly) the midpoint between Derwent Water on the left and Bassenthwaite on the right. Some of you will know that Bassenthwaite is unique in the Lake District, as it is the only lake, all the others being Waters, Meres or Tarns, And before anyone says it - Windermere is plain Windermere, not Lake Windermere - that would make it Lake Winderlake!
