If you can't beat them...

Male Blackbird (Turdus merula).

Another day of good weather (well up until about 9:00pm when the heavens opened.) So a day of "more of the same". CC was painting ceilings and I was in the garden getting the site ready for the Belfast sinks, oh and painting the garage door in between times.

We have a pair of Blackbirds which appear to be feeding young close by and spend a lot of time on the lawn and clearing up the little beasties I disturb. During one of the tea breaks CC pointed out how trusting they were if we sat quietly.

So I decided that for my blip I would try for a bird shot. As the lawn at the front is larger and less disturbed I decided to try there. Not a sign of a blackbird. I tried Sparrow and Dunnock. I discovered our nest box was occupied by Blue Tits which were feeding small young. After taking a number of shots I decided I should get back to work so I walked round the side of the house only to find the male blackbird occupying the lawn there. So it was a quick shot before it moved away having been disturbed by my sudden unwary appearance.

Of the shots I had taken I liked the blackbird best so that is the decision made.
