Or Four Spotted Chaser to you! This is one of the earliest dragonflies on the wing each season. It's flight season is long and it can last until mid August.
Rimac nature reserve was buzzing in the sunshine this morning. I sat by a pond to watch the damselflies and dragonflies and could hear the beat of the dragonfly wings as they came near. I heard a cuckoo, saw several pretty meadow brown butterflies and lots of small blue butterflies, the orchids were out and the meadows looked fabulous. Could have stayed there all day
It was a hard call what to blip as I had taken a young sparrow waiting for its mum in the garden before I left but this dragonfly won the day! I have not blipped it before.
