Wednesday: Excessive Duties

The lengths I have to go to for my job are just ridiculous sometimes.

We are holding a big event in a few weeks at which we want to serve British beer.  I was sent home today, clutching this bottle, with the specific instruction of trying it so that I can give feedback on it tomorrow.  I mean, that is just above and beyond!  But I sacrificed myself!

The verdict is that it is a very tasty little tipple but at 5.7% it will make for a very merry crowd.

I was really sad to hear that Maya Angelou had died.  She was always a firm favourite of mine and I thought her autobiographies were just wonderful.  I have taken them off the shelf and have put them on my to read pile so that I can reread them.

I have just also finished 'Hateship, Friendship,  Courtship, Loveship, Marriage' by Alice Munro.  It was a real revelation to me - I probably wouldn't have picked it up, normally, not being one for short stories or modern fiction, but thought I would given them a try.  It was a  wonderful read, and I definitely want more Alice.  I also feel a bit sentimental towards her because she won the Nobel Prize when we were in Canada last year.
