Poignant poppy

With it being the anniversary of the D-Day landings I hoped to find a red poppy today and at lunchtime went to the war memorial in the park expecting to find wreaths there but no - just a gardener planting bedding plants - which pleased me anyway! This poppy is in a neighbour's garden - the elderly couple were having breakfast in the garden with it being such a gorgeous morning, but they were happy for me to poke my camera around their gate! I couldn't find the right settings to use but rather liked the way it came out with the sunlight and all.
I heard this song on the Jeremy Vine show yesterday and it gave me goose bumps. Mother's Pride
