Great Edstone
On such a lovely morning it had to be a bike ride across the Vale of Pickering towards the Howardian Hills. Despite its name it has a number of small hills which require a certain amount of effort to climb.
Towards the end of my ride is Great Edstone. This view is at the top of one of the climbs and is a good excuse to get off my bike to take a photograph. I particularly liked the flowers around the phone box. As I looked more carefully I reflected on how much communications have changed in villages. Originally a phone box and post box would be the chief means of communication. Now the wires overhead hint to telephone and internet access for most of the cottages.
