Newton Dale Jog

Decided on a dog jog this afternoon. Started in Newton on Rawcliffe and dropped down onto Stony Moor before running on to Newton Dale where the North York Moors steam railway runs from Pickering to Grosmont.

I spotted this unusual flower along the forest drive. The Forestry Commission seem to be deterring people from visiting this forest by putting barriers along the forest road. I think this is an attempt to persuade people to pay the toll at Dalby where investment in mountain bike trails, visitor centre and picnic sites has been high.

Pickering Forest has been rather neglected but means you can enjoy true solitude.
