Met Man

Last year when I was out for a walk I noticed a plane doing some strange manoeuvres in the sky. At first I thought it was simply in a holding pattern waiting for a slot to come in to land at one of the London airports, but we aren't in an area normally used for stacking. I mentioned it to W who at the time worked at the university campus on the airfield and she said it would probably have been 'Met Man'. Apparently its flight takes it round and round in a big oval pattern for a couple of hours taking measurements and samples for weather forecasting. Here it is having a well earned break at the end of the runway.
