This large and striking bronze stands on a corner facing the Cathedral in Geneva, where we listened, this evening, to a brief concert of organ music.

The statue is attributed to 'Rodo'..i.e. Auguste de Niederhäusern.
He was a sculptor and medalist active in Switzerland and France, born in Vevey, and in 1866 moved with his family to Geneva.

For six years he worked in Auguste Rodin's studio. (PS I once Blipped Rodin's "The Kiss" from when it was on display in Edinburgh).

In 1895 Rodo received a commission for the Paul Verlaine monument in the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris, which was finally inaugurated in 1911. He died aged 50 in 1913 during a visit to Munich.
