Flag Day, Den Haag

Flag Day celebrates the first day when pickled herring are in season in Holland and available to savour down at the harbour in The Hague. Jamie and I had a lovely night cap (early this morning !) with some special edition Glen Dronach served in Edinburgh crystal tumblers before we slept a little and set off to wake ourselves fully with raw herring straight down our gullets, in the best Dutch style!

Later we watched the Dutch ladies team win the hockey world cup in the Plein (square) and dined before sitting on the sofa now to watch the England Game! Good luck to the boys in white, and thanks to my best man Jamie for such a great day!
