Victorian Letterbox
After yesterdays blip by Jue showing an old stamp vending machine and an old post box I mentioned we had a Victorian box in the village....
Well here it is - according to the British Postal Museum and Archive web site it is an Early Queen Victoria Wall Box .
As you can see the 'V' has been obliterated by the next collection tag holder - presumably at some later time! However the design and the crown logo are clues to its age.
It is mounted in the wall of one of the stone cottages on the 'high street' - a narrow thoroughfare barely more than a car wide in places.
