Aided by going a slightly long way round to the Botanics via the Rocheid path and Inverleith Park, by the time I'd wheeled my bike inside and parked it against the radiator the total distance for the day just ticked over to seven miles. He'd claimed to be tired on the way there but still managed to do lots of scampering around the bushes, briefly attempted to ask if he could go back in the car but then sped most of the way back much quicker than the outward journey, except for the ten-minute rest on Henderson Street's cobble-slope edge.
