I didn't know that

Living in Scotland the poppy has always had a special significance with Remembrance Day. So I found it interesting to read that in Greek mythology the poppy is a symbol of Morpheus, the Greek god of dreams because that's what this field looked like, a dream. The poppies look like they are floating, or maybe I'm seeing things.

MORPHEUS was the leader of the Oneiroi, the gods or spirits (daimones) of dreams. He manifested himself in the dreams of kings and rulers in the likeness of men as a messenger of the gods.

Morpheus was probably equated with the Dream-Spirit which Zeus sent to visit Agamemnon in the Iliad.
