Perfect day
What a fabulous day. Midsummer was something to crow about this year, though it started inauspiciously around 8.30am with England being completely outclassed by the ABs and so I switched off at half time.
I pottered about the garden in my nightie pruning and dead heading and hanging the washing out before catching up with Nashville from earlier this week. I then had my hair cut in Stony, followed by a cheeky Costa with the paper.
When I got home I decided the weather was too good to ignore so I went straight out into the garden on the comfy sun lounger and spent a fabulous two hours sunbathing in 26C, reading and listening to the test match, all of which constitutes one of my favourite pastimes in an English summer (see blip). I even dozed a while in the hot sun. Bliss.
From my supine position, I practised loads of tree and sky shots, trying to capture the screeching swifts and swallows but they were too fast for me. The garden birds were busy and noisy today and one of the mother blackbirds was rustling in and out of the bushes to my left most industriously with food for the nest, getting bolder and bolder the longer I lay there.
Late afternoon, I showered and headed over to Cogenhoe to visit K who had S and J visiting for dinner too. We sat out in the evening sun in her gorgeous cottage garden full of rampant vegetables and fruit trees. Just my cup of tea. I am envious of the look but have no interest in actually growing veg, too much like hard work!
We enjoyed delicious home-made pizza with home grown toppings and caught up on the goss.
I'm home now and feeling nicely relaxed and serene. Long may it continue....
