Happy birthday
It really doesn't seem like 10 years since I poked my head round the door of the Freckleton Club Day caravan and said "I believe you want a race director"
After staging the 4th race and being involved for 10 wonderful years, here we are at the 50th staging of the oldest half marathon in the UK.
Tomorrow there will be a Parade of Champions and a Parade of Race Directors.
I am proud that I am one of only 5 Race Directors the race has had.
I feel honoured that I have had the opportunity to be involved with the race (which I am running tomorrow, wearing number 50) and I really want to spend some time with the men who led the way before me so that I had something to follow.
We will be missing one previous Race Director but a large number of his family are running in his memory.
We are also missing dear departed committee members but members of their family are running too.
In all there will be 73 people from Freckleton running their half marathon.
There are probably at least that number again who don't live locally but have connections with the village.
One of those has travelled from Canada. He was born in Freckleton and he's been working hard. He's been second and he wants the title.
But the holder has won a record 7 times and won't let go easily.
In the ladies race the title is being defended by a village resident for the first time ever.
I'll be well down the field but I can't wait to find out who wins.
I hope you have an amazing Sunday. If it's anything like as good as mine I know you'll be having a great time.
