The Round the Island Yacht Race
Up early today to travel to The Needles to watch one of the greatest sporting spectacles in the world as 1,500 yachts and 16,ooo crew took to the water to participate in one of the worlds largest yacht races.
Very light winds made for slow going with some boats taking twelve hours to complete the circumnavigation.
This part of the course is wonderful for spectators as the boats hug the cliffs to try to pick up the tide and breeze.
I have posted some more pics. HERE
It was a long busy day as in the evening the Steam Railway were holding their Summer Solstice Steam event which ran into the early hours. I will try to post some of these images later.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend in this glorious hot weather.
