Verbascum colony

[Note to blipper-self-- take your blips before the morning sun burns off the fog.]
This blip does not look all that well. The eastern sun was too strong.
The colony of mullein or verbascum bombyciferum is coming on nicely. (The 'bomby has been photobombed by Gracie T-t.)

So glad many read about the milkweed crisis. And thanks for the helpful and kind comments.

Now, for those English blippers who feel they have not had a chance to see the mullein or verbascum plant, misswinterfinch has news for you.
While reading the glorious gardening book by the Duchess of Devenshire yesterday, "The Garden at Chatsworth I came across Debo's own Verbascum collection growing in the gravel right at the base of the south entrance stairs. Some fussy members of her family beg her to pull them out as untidy, but she's right to keep them to add to the whimsy of an otherwise heavy look.
These are on pages 118-119.
Or, if you are doing the National Trust Tours why not stop by and see the 6 to 7 foot tall plants? If you wait another month you can probably snitch a few seeds... thousands are produced. The duchess won't mind, but be aware that she is often out there when tours are chatting. She hears and reports some of the stupidest things from gardeners who have a tiny fraction of the size of Chatsworth. In fact, to call it "a garden" stretches the meaning of the word.
On another day I will get better photos of the taller mulleins for those not seeing them in person.

Enjoy a summer weekend....
