KINGFISHER 10
You all know I'm a bit of a Kingfisher nut ! and I'm making Kingies while the crabs shine !! ( the weather has been amazing of late!!)
I'm also a fan of Andy Rouse ( Nature photographer ) where in his book the
" Concepts of Nature" he talks about keeping attention at a peak whilst photographing. Its easy when in the hide to fall asleep or do a bit of " Chimping" ( thats slang for looking at the pictures you just took - brought about by the exclamations of oooh! oooh! oooh! similar to a chimp -when you see a good shot in the LCD screen on back of camra!! )
So with this in mind today I went after the flying to perch shot. Its not an easy shot to get. Auto-everything cameras still dont like birds flying towards them - it upsets the auto-evrything !! SO what to do - I preset my focus( to manual) with the thought - the birds got to fly through that level to the perch. well sometimes it works - but at fast shutter speeds to catch the action there's not much DOF - its a compromise. This shot might have gone some way to acheiving the aim - I was reasonably happy
THANKS EVERYONE FOR PUTTING ME ON SPOTLIGHT YESTERDAY.
and thanks to DavidC for his interesting info on the Eye Membrane of the kingy.
