Clew Bay Westport Ireland

Stunning the scenery on Ireland's West coast and
especially if favoured by the weather. So it was today
as the boat headed well out into Clew Bay and the
history of the area was recounted - the famine and
emigration. Nothing bad lasts forever as they say
as the economy flourishes - now with immigration
- of tourists - ironically for the peace and quiet that
once made eking out an existence in this remote place
impossible for so many. The vision of the blessed Virgin
Mary at Knock had consequences far beyond any that
might have been imagined. An international airport
virtually on the doorstep gives access both to pilgrims
and tourists.
