Sunshine and showers...
...pretty much sums up this typical day in an English summer.
I skipped church first thing and then went to Stony to meet my stepmum (postponed from yesterday). I waited an hour with the paper in Costa then called her to check she was OK. She'd forgotten. I was a bit put out for about 5 minutes then realised that it was no biggie and at least she wasn't in a heap at the bottom of the stairs..... Meanwhile I saw a church member who passed on the gossip of the day that our lovely bachelor vicar is officially 'courting' a lady from the other village in our benefice. I must say that is wonderful news as he's been single since I've known him and he deserves some companionship and love.
I then trotted off to Homesbase to pick up some sand and other things for the garden wall. Whilst there I picked up a decent rotary clothes drier for the garden at half price plus an extra 15% off so that was a good buy, though getting it all into the car was amusing. (It's still there too as I couldn't park close enough to the house when I got back!)
I also browsed a while at Ikea and had a bite to eat. I came away with a table lamp I didn't know I needed and some smoked salmon as per usual with Ikea...
When I got home, I pottered about pruning and photographing but then the heavens opened mightily (again) even though the sun was out and my blip reflects this. I keep trying to capture the song thrush who warbles beautifully each evening from the top of the spruce but it flies off every time I open the back door and start focussing on it. I am now determined to capture it one day.
I then caught up with a few recorded telly shows and with some social media before coming to bed for an earlyish night.
