BLACK BEAUTY

The Ebony Damselfly is the only damselfly with black wings. They are a dark metallic green that can appear to be blue or black, depending on the light. I’d never seen one before today, although my insect book says they’re fairly common. The white tips of the wings indicate this is a female – the male’s wings are solid black. Another day with the macro lens, and this gal flew off if I got within four feet, so this will have to do.
