Ferry ticket booth on Poole Quay

The cross-channel ferries based in Poole have their own separate port.

Here tickets to local destinations are being sold:

"Wareham River" refers to the Frome river up to Wareham, where the boats can moor at the Quay.

The red squirrel cutouts on top of the booth are a reminder that they can be found on Brownsea Island, where the grey squirrel has not ventured. A trip to the island is a delightful experience: it has an excellent bird reserve and is also renowned as the birthplace of the Scout Movement in 1907.

The route of the "Jurassic Cruise" takes visitors out of Poole Harbour, down to Swanage, and then along the coast to St Aldhelm's Head. This may be just a small section of the Jurassic Coast, but its rugged cliffs and abandoned cliff-face Purbeck stone quarries provide plenty of drama along the way.
