A Full Day - and on a Sunday too!

The view across to Appledore from Instow beach

A much nicer day than forecast - in fact the whole weekend has been better than forecast.

We started with a trip into town first thing to get a second-hand big barrel wooden planter that we'd seen advertised on a facebook group. The people selling it had recently moved here after living in France for 6 years, so it's a proper French thing with French words on it and everything!

Richard bought a new bike rack for the car. Then we went to get some food for lunch and some school socks for Tess. I don't know where they all go - she never can find any. Maybe she eats them.

When we got home it was still morning! That's pretty good going for me. And Joel had even got up and had breakfast - that's pretty good going for him.

We had baguettes for lunch (to make the new planter feel at home) and then Richard put the bike rack and the bikes on the car and we went off to the Tarka trail for a few hours. We cycled to Instow where Richard and Tess had an ice cream, and then went home again, where I found there were still plenty of hours in the day available!

I pottered around the garden with a watering can and a cup of tea and then we took the dog to the beach. On the beach Tess amused me by cartwheeling nearly the whole way, stopping only to write penis, vagina, poo, boobs and fart in the sand. As we left the beach she realised rather disappointedly that she'd forgotten a few key words.

When we got back I picked some mange tout, spring onions and chives from the garden and made a stir fry.

I now have the mother of all headaches but boy is it good to have Richard around on a Sunday after years and years of him working weekends .
