Independence Day

Today was a fun day. Jimmy got the day off for the holiday, but he was still on call, so I guess he wasn't too off. We hung out in the morning and he went off to a work friend's party in the afternoon. We were talking back and forth and he got called in around 6:30. Usually the cases take 2 hours total so we were optimistic that we could still go downtown that night to catch the fireworks. Well, he texted me again around 7:45 saying that they were about to do someone else! He said to not worry about driving downtown because they wouldn't get done in time. Turns out those doctors know how to speed things along when fireworks are on the line. He got out in record time and I still had time to drive downtown and we even got to park next to each other! We brought chairs, popcorn and peaches, how patriotic! We even found a spot literally feet from the River and had a pretty decent view. The weather was beyond awesome and even after the show we stayed for another 30-45 minutes to enjoy being together and sitting by the water, watching all the boats drive by. It was one of those live-in-the-moment moments and I think we need to do it more often. There was absolutely no traffic when we finally did decide to walk back and we made it home without a problem. It was a great night :)
