Eryngium

This little pot of Eryngium sit by my Mum's front door (yes dad, I know you think it's the back door). She loves them when they come in bouquets and now this little pot cheers up the step.

Having followed mum and dad's blips, I knew they had been doing some drastic gardening. I LOVE gardening! We joked last night that they might hide the secateurs and saw so that I couldn't do anything without their supervision. When I woke at 6am, I enjoyed my breakfast on the step and then went to look for the secateurs. I looked in the house, in both sheds, in the greenhouse and even in the garage through the door that hasn't opened in years. Eventually I found them locked in the car, the car that mum had the keys to, over at Grannie's.

A quick walk and I was back to the garden and beginning the task of cutting back a wild seeded yew. When I saw a nest I stopped and moved on to making the box more box like.

As the district nurse hadn't been able to give a time she would visit Grannie, I went over just before 9am to relieve mum and allow her to pack for their show. As Grannie had told the social worker that she would get better, they agreed to two weeks respite care (instead of a permanent placement). At 10am the manager came to assess her. She tried her hardest to be alert and answer all the questions but she dozed for a lot of it whilst Mum and I filled in the gaps. They are going to use this fortnight to assess whether they can care for her, whether she needs specialist nursing care, or whether she has to come home.

At lunchtime the District Nurse arrived. As she had come to provide advice for a pressure sore, she didn't really have the right dressings for the blistered, weeping legs but she bandaged her up to the knee as best she could.

Following lunch I spent the afternoon back and forth from Grannie to Garden, caring for both as best I could. For years I have wanted to do something drastic with 2 rampaging holly bushes. Finally I've been allowed!

Mum came to collect me to join them for dinner at Skelton Show. It was great to see the set up of their photographic stall. I used this opportunity to double check the holly was okay before I did anything more to it. After dinner it was back home to spend the night with Grannie.

A long night and an early start.
