Diary of an Edinburgher

Visitors from the West

E and A - old friends from days of yore came through from the west coast for the day. Mainly to meet Archie, I might add... And of course, they were duly taken with him.

He was on his best behaviour - I was slightly concerned that we'd have a repeat of the incident last time we moved the table and chairs and took over his area... Poo in the kitchen!! But no.

We had a lovely catch up over bubbly and a delicious lunch - I broke up the amaretti biscuits which required great skill and just the right amount of pounding. The resulting crumble went on top of baked peaches. Yum yum.

A was very impressed with my Bose Sound System and the old hits kept popping up to remind us of college days long ago. I think A might be looking to update his kit at home...

We then walked through the Meadows with Archie to point our visitors in the right direction for the train. The place was mobbed! The usual inconsiderates with their disposable BBQs burning the grass, thereby ruining that patch forever.

Other inconsiderates were not keeping an eye on their dogs - one staffie type came charging up to wee Archie and hassled him, and Archie got scared. I could see no owner looking to call this dog back so JR picked Archie up - just as well he's still a wee bundle!

And no doubt, most of the folk will go home later this evening leaving all their rubbish for someone else to pick up.

Sorry - I was on my soapbox again...

We stopped to watch some chaps on the tightrope, but Archie wasn't impressed.

He's snoring as we speak. Another good day in the life of Archie...
